Dr Holmes qualified in Australia in 2002 and spent the next few years working in one of Sydney's leading cosmetic and implant practices. In 2005 he won the Nobel Biocare Young Clinicians' Award for his work with dental implants. In 2006 he relocated to New York and spent the next 4 years undertaking full time postgraduate study at New York University in implant dentistry and prosthodontics. He completed single, partial and full jaw restorations on implants as well as teeth. He also completed a Masters in biomaterials and biometrics, with research focusing on dental implant surfaces and grafting technologies.
Since arriving in the UK late last year, Dr Holmes has focused his work on the more difficult and challenging prosthodontic and implant referrals.
Dr Holmes lost a front tooth as a child in a sporting accident and wore a partial denture for nine years until he was offered the option of a dental implant. Having been through implant treatment himself, he is well placed to empathize with his patients and explain the procedure from first-hand experience.
